Japan, 2016

I learnt a lot about myself in the few weeks I travelled in Japan. I discovered that I like to get lost meandering suburban streets when I’m in a new country, finding the best restaurants or shops don’t interest me as much. I learnt that solitude is calming and necessary. That I prefer smaller towns to big cities, that nature is rejuvenating. And art can also be calming and is necessary. If you ever get to Japan I can’t recommend the art islands, Naoshima and Teshima, enough. We planned our trip around the Setouchi Triennale. I’ve never been moved by art or architecture as much as when I walked in to the Teshima Art Museum.
